Frequently asked
General
1. Are there discounts for group rentals?
Yes! If there are three or more people renting bikes together, we are likely to offer a discount.
2. Is the price negotiable?
All our prices are defined by our management and are not negotiable.
3. Does the price include insurance?
No, we don’t offer any insurance coverage for the driver or the bike. The driver is fully responsible for everything they do.
4. What should I do if the police pull me over?
If they stop you for no reason, just pay them a fee of 200.000 VND. They will charge you more for violating the traffic regulations.
Furthermore, you must show them the Blue Card for your bike so that they know it was not stolen. For this reason, make sure you always carry a copy or picture of the Blucard.
Renting
1. How much is the deposit?
The deposit is always the same as one month’s rent for the selected bike. We will also need a picture of your passport, your driving licence (Vietnamese or any other licence), and your visa.
2. How do I pay for rent and the deposit?
We offer two methods for payment: Paypal or cash. The rent and the deposit can be paid through PayPal or in cash when the bike is handed over to you.
3. Do you supply helmets?
Yes, of course! We supply quality helmets for your safety, a rain jacket, and even a bike-lock (anti-theft device) to help prevent the bike from being stolen.
4. What is the minimum rental period?
The minimum rental period is one month. If you want to rent it for a shorter period of time, we have to set the prices higher.
5. Do I need any driving license?
Yes. To be able to rent a bike at saigonBikes, you need to have a driving licence from your county, an international licence, or the Vietnamese driving licence. We recomend converting whatever licence you do have to the Vietnamese one, in case you end up in an accident. If the police stop you, you should be able to prove that you can drive.
6. How to get a Vietnamese driving license?
We offer a service to convert your driving licence to the Vietnamese driving license. For more inforation on our service, or how to get it converted by yourself, look under the “Information” tab, and read through “Vietnamese Driving License”.
7. What happens if the bike needs repairs?
All of our bikes are maintained and checked for damage, so problems should happen rarely. But, of course, problems can and will come up. If you are in Saigon when you start having trouble, we will come to you and have the bike fixed by a local mechanic. However, if the problem cannot be fixed quickly, we will exchange the bike for another. If you are travelling outside of Saigon, we can speak to the local mechanics for you. We will only cover the cost for repairing the bike if we are the ones organizing the repair with the mechanic; if you have it repaired without informing us, you’re the one paying for it.
8. What do I do if I get in an accident?
Please contact us by calling the emergency number, found under the “Contact Us” tab above. Somebody will be there to answer 24h a day, so we can help you immediately. We can speak Vietnamese and English and are able to talk with any third party for you.
